Air Max ‘97 returns to DECISIONS with his first release since 2018’s Nacre LP. Falling Not Walking delivers four new tracks written for dancefloors in his recently adopted UK home; two with the help of UK based artists: TSVI and LOFT.
Raucous and buzzy, Turgor features a Flea-like bassline engulfed in a manic vortex of snares. TSVI contributes a lean rhythmic backbone to collaborative track Paroxysm, which spirals into a charred place after a chasmic breakdown. Xhrinicibles, featuring Mancunian artist LOFT, locks into a heady groove teeming with pointillistic detail and gusts of latent hardcore-continuum atmosphere. Falling Not Walking, implying inner-ear dysfunction as it lurches and wobbles, brings the EP to an off-kilter close. Balancing the exuberance of arrival and new friendships with the angst of acclimatisation (to a faltering, divided Britain), Falling Not Walking showcases Air Max ‘97’s uniquely disorientating rhythms with some fresh outside input.
